About the Book

* l’école
* Jeux intervillages
* Pièces de théâtre
* Marches annuelles
* Arbres de Noël
* À la ferme
* Portraits
* Sous les drapeaux
* Vie quotidienne
* Les Noces
* Le chansonnier d’Emile Devoize
* L’album familial Labussière

The Exhibition in August 2004 was a great success and raised a lot of interest in the Commune. It had covered mainly the time period from the 1870s to the 1950s and it was felt that the 2005 Exhibition should cover the next 50 years so the younger members of the community could be more involved. With the greater availability of cameras there was much more material available and as we reached the mid-1990s there was even video available of the main village events. People were very willing to lend material and more photos from the earlier part of the century had been found in the intervening year, including the much sought photo taken in Orgnat to celebrate the liberation of St Dizier La Tour in 1945, so we were able to continue the task of naming as many people in the photos as possible.

The exhibition was open for a week and rarely closed at the official closing time due to the interest shown in it. We estimate that about 280 people visited it, many as last year spending several hours studying photos in great detail.

The loaned video tapes were copied and a short video of the main events in the community - the children's Christmas Parties, the Annual Walks, the opening of the Salle Polyvalente, the annual Buffet Campagnards, the Vide Greniers - made and played during the exhibition in a side room.

Again there were many requests that all the pictures should be collated into a book. We were very happy to comply, although it involved months of work and the help of French friends to check the French text. We are doing it as a non-commercial venture as a gift to the inhabitants of our beloved commune, so it isn't being offered for general sale in the UK. So like "Souveniers de St Dizier La Tour" it is included here for completeness so there isn't a gap in our list of ISBN numbers.

The photograph of Anne with Jack in France is one of her favourites. One must humour her as it is her website after all! It was taken in mid July 2005.
